Session 1
Diabetes mellitus is a common canine endocrinopathy. In some cases, diabetic stability can prove elusive. In this session we will cover one of the most serious complications of diabetes mellitus- diabetic ketoacidosis. We will discuss the diagnosis of DKA and the emergency management of this challenging condition. In addition, we will look at common causes leading to diabetic instability and a practical approach to stabilising some of the more difficult diabetic dogs in practice.
What you’ll learn:
More and more animals are travelling abroad or being imported from foreign countries into the UK. This inevitably has led to an increase in a number of relatively unfamiliar infectious diseases in canine practice. In this session, we will look at a number of vector borne infectious diseases and discuss how to diagnose and manage these unusual diseases.
What you’ll learn:
Anaemia is a relatively common finding in canine patients. A logical diagnostic approach to the anaemic patient is essential to ensure the correct diagnosis is reached expediently. In this session, we will discuss the practical approach to the patient with anaemia and also the rational use of blood products in the anaemic dog.
